A dad from Chorley - who was left paralysed in the Manchester Arena bombing - has defied the odds almost a year after the tragic events of May 22nd.

Martin Hibbert completed the 10K Great Manchester Run, in his specially designed racing wheelchair.

15-year-old Freya Lewis was seriously injured in the bomb blast as was told by doctors that she may never walk again.

She took part in the Junior Run, completing the 2.5km route in less than 20 minutes.

He had told Rock FM, ahead of the race, that he was doing it to show defiance in the face of hatred and terrorism.

He lined up with the Wheelchair athletes to compete in the 10k, crossing the finish line an hour later

At the start line for the 10k race, there was just one man the crowds were hoping to see. Sir Mo Farah took on the race, and was the favourite to win going into the competition.

Only 28 minutes and 27 seconds later and he had crossed the finish line, beating second place Moses Kipsiro by just one second.

He was greeted on the line by his family and friends, hugging his wife and children before saying:

"It's only my first win here but the crowd were amazing. I knew from early on that it was going to be hard work. Moses was never going to give it to me easily."

In total, around 30,000 people took on the challenge, over a day of scorching temperatures, to claim their medals at the finish line on Deansgate.

A huge well done to everyone who took part!
