Mobile vaccination centres have opened in Pendle to give people their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

It comes as infection rates across Lancashire are on the rise. In Pendle it's risen from 48.9 per 100,000 to 101 per 100,000 in the seven days to May 22nd.

The council has also announced extra capacity for Covid testing in the borough, with people being urged to get tested with or without displaying symptoms of Covid-19. Mobile units are open every day this month.

Leader of Pendle Council, Cllr Nadeem Ahmed said:

“Surge vaccination centres have opened to give people their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine to help stop the spread of the virus.

“As cases continue to rise in Pendle and the infection rate increases, it’s vital that people come and get vaccinated to protect themselves and keep Pendle safe.

“If you are unsure whether you are eligible, pop down and have a chat with the team.

“We are keen to get as many people vaccinated as possible, so please roll up!"
