Queen Elizabeth II has just made history, as the first monarch to celebrate 65 years on the throne.
On 6th February 1952, Princess Elizabeth, now Queen Elizabeth II, acceded to the throne aged 25, when King George VI died after battling with a prolonged illness.
65 years later, the Queen has become the first British monarch to reach their Sapphire Jubilee. She attended a church service at St Peter and St Paul West Newton in Norfolk, the day before her anniversary, dressed in a striking turquoise blue suit.
In a more dramatic celebration, the band of the Household Cavalry processed outside Buckingham Palace, during the Changing the Guard ceremony. The King's Troop Royal Horse Artilleryalsostageda 41-Gun Royal Salute in Green Park, London.
