Push to find every homeless person in Preston a place to live
Preston Housing First is opening homes to get rough sleepers off the streets
A new approach to tackling homelessness across Preston is being expanded across the city.
Leaders and charities are working together to open up new places to get rough sleepers off the streets.
Preston Housing First is working to get as many homeless people in the city into homes, while also addressing their needs once they are off the streets.
They will push to offer additional addiction and mental health support once people have been housed.
They say it is a vital long-term step that is needed to stamp out homelessness in the city.
Jeff Marsh is from the Foxton Centre, they are behind Preston Housing First:
"It gives people long term answers to their issues and we are keen to expand that further."
'Our job is to find longer term solutions for people. We are really excited because we've started this long term plan to get people off the street and address any long term issues they have.
'We have just taken on our eighth house this week and have placed two people into that home. We will open another home next week. It gives people long term answers to their issues and we are keen to expand that further.'
