Residents in Wigan are staging a protest this morning against plans to set up a chemical fuel plant that would turn plastics into diesel.

The potential site could be built in Appley Bridge.

Residents in the village will be holding the demonstration as council planners visit the potential site for the plant this morning.

Many villagers have put up placards against the plans outside their homes.

Rock FM spoke to resident Naomi Teasdale - she says she's concerned by the potential impact the emissions could have on the health of residents in the village.

Lancashire County Council are set to make a decision on the site, proposed by energy company P-Fuel, at a planning meeting on Wednesday 20th January.

The authority says that planners have been recommended to refuse to grant planning permission for the site at the meeting.
