Preston North End miss out on historic FA Cup semi-final
They fell short to Champions League quarter finalists Aston Villa
Preston North End have missed out on their first FA Cup semi-final in over 60 years.
The Lillywhites completed a famous cup upset by falling short to Premier League side Aston Villa, with the final score of 3-0 at Deepdale. It was their first quarter-final in the competition since the 1960s.
Preston North End struggled to control the ball, failing to net a goal over the course of the 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa's new signing Marcus Rashford was able to chip in two goals within five minutes of each other.
Former Manchester United star Rashford scored the first goal in the 58th minute, before landing a second goal thanks to a penalty in the 63rd minute.
The final nail in the coffin came in the 71st minute, when Jacob Ramsey was able to knock the ball into the net, only securing Aston's place in FA Cup Semi-Final.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side had knocked out Wycombe, Charlton and Burnley to get to this stage of the competition.
The semi-finals will take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April.
Following the live semi-final draw, it was revealed that Aston Villa will take on Crystal Palace, while Nottingham Forest will take on the winner of the final quarter-final clash.
The final spot in the FA Cup semi-finals will be played between Manchester City and Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon (March 30th).
