Preston Live Arts Festival line-up announced

It'll take place across the city from 21-30 June

The initial line up for Preston's Live Arts Festival has been announced this morning (21st May).

The Summer Festival is a celebration of arts, culture and homegrown talent in the city and will run between the 21st-30th of June.

What's in the line-up?

  • Hey Presto-n! - A night of illusion and magic and the Charter Theatre featuring performances from illusionists like Jamie Raven (BGT) and Mark Shortland (from Penn and Teller Fool Us).
  • Live from the Guild Hall - Two night comedy extravaganza with comedians like Lost Voice Guy (BGT) and Preston legend Dan Nightingale.
  • Lockdown stories - Selected artists will share their lockdown stories with a tapestry of short inventive pieces.
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show - One for the family! A theatrical recreation of Eric Carle's classic story using puppets.
  • Preston College Dance 'Unlocked' - A evening of dance from students at Preston College.
  • Prest-End! - Local theatre company, Create Theatre, will show Preston's talent through shows from London's West End.

Mayor of Preston Councillor Javed Iqbal said:

“We are delighted to announce our initial line-up for Preston Live Arts Festival which combines much-loved, high profile acts with a selection of specially commissioned projects from our local creative community, the response to which has been overwhelming. It is brilliant that the city is being able to reopen safely and offer great arts, events and experiences for all the family”

“As Preston comes out of lockdown we are committed to working towards putting our arts and cultural offering firmly back on the map, rebuilding our live performance programme and local audiences.

"We see the Preston Live Arts Festival as a key catalyst for the growth and development of the city whilst also providing our residents and visitors fun and engaging events and activities for the whole family to enjoy."
