A member of the Jewish community in Preston wants to see more done as security is stepped up at synagogues across the country.

It comes following a terrorist attack on Thursday 2nd October at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Middleton Road in Crumpsall during Yom Kippur.

The incident saw a man drive a vehicle into pedestrians and then attacked people with a knife, leaving two people dead and other injured.

Jeremy Dable, from the Jewish Community in Preston said:

"I'm angry beyond words, grief stricken beyond words, vindicated in the most negative way because we saw it coming and defiant, utterly defiant."

"We see the insult against human life, which in our tradition and our religion, we value so highly."

He also highlighted that interfaith is not sufficiently influential and the leaders with the loudest voices and the most impact need to make a change:

"It's the leaders who get the biggest airspace and the loudest voices, the most contact of their thoughts with the general population, they set the tone of how to look upon the Jewish state and following on from that, the Jewish people, they have to change."
