Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a hit-and-run in Poulton-le-Fylde.
Officers from Lancashire Police were called to the Breck Road area of the town at around 12:50am on Sunday morning (February 16th).
When responders arrived at the scene, they found that two pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle, one suffering serious injuries.
Following lines of enquiry, they found that a white Ford transit van had been driving along the road when the van hit the two people.
The two pedestrians - both men, one aged in his 20s and the other in his 40s - were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.
Following the incident, it was found that the Ford transit van had left the scene after striking the two men.
The van was located a short time later and after this, a 32-year-old man from Great Eccleston was arrested by Lancashire Police on suspicion of attempted murder.
As well as this, the man was also arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving and drug driving.
Later on Sunday, it was announced that a further two people had been arrested - also on attempted murder.
A 23-year-old man, from Great Eccleston, and a 24-year-old man from Blackpool were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, with both remaining in custody.
Lancashire Police have insisted this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.
Speaking on the case, Detective Inspector Dave Little from Lancashire Police said: "This has left a man with some serious injuries, and first and foremost, my thoughts are with the two injured and receiving treatment.
“We know that this may be concerning for the community to hear, but I want to reassure you that there is not thought to be any wider threat to the public, and a dedicated investigation is underway.
“I also need to ask for your help. We know that the incident took place at a busy time of night, in a busy area, and there will have been people around, who we may not have spoken to.
“If this is you, or you know someone who was out in Poulton-Le-Fylde last night, or if you have seen footage circulating on social media, please do the responsible thing, and get in touch with us."
Anyone who may have any information relevant to the incident is being urged to call 101 and quote incident 0063 from February 16th with any leads they may have.
