Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in a pub in Leyland to get in touch after the death of a man in Chorley.

Paul Ainscough, 57, was found by officers who were called to reports of a sudden death at an address in Hollinshead Street, Chorley, at 4:09pm on Monday.

The 57-year-old's family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Lancashire Police say he was involved in an incident at the Stag pub, Worden Lane, Leyland, that occurred between 4:30pm and 7:30pm on Saturday 22 June.

Officers believe Mr Ainscough, who they think was wearing a bucket hat at the time, was pushed over in the pub's beer garden.

A 32-year-old man was arrested initially on suspicion of a section 18 assault, and has been released on bail as enquiries continue.

Anyone who was in the pub or beer garden, and who witnessed the incident, is being urged to get in touch.

Lancashire Police have released a picture of Paul Ainscough in the hope it can help people remember events at the pub.

People can contact the force by calling 101, quoting 0893 of 24th June 2024.
