Police appeal for witnesses following Blackburn assault
Man suffered head injuries following attack on Fawcett Close
Lancashire Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Blackburn today (Friday, March 24).
Officers were called around 3.20pm to a report of an assault in Fawcett Close.
Emergency services attended following a report a man had been attacked with a weapon, believed to be a baseball bat, suffering serious head injuries.
He has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made.
An investigation is underway and enquiries ongoing.
Detectives are appealing for information and urging any witnesses to come forward.
Det Insp John McNamara, of Blackburn CID, said: “We have launched an investigation following a serious assault in Blackburn.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who can assist our enquiries.
“We believe the victim was attacked in the street and this was witnessed by a number of people.
“If you have information and can help please come forward.
“Patrols have been increased in the area and we are actively searching for a suspect in connection with the attack. We will update you in due course.”
