Preston North End has temporarily changed its name to highlight the importance of more people signing up as organ donors this year

Today marks the start of Organ Donation Week and the campaign is calling on people to “Turn an End into a Beginning” by talking about organ donation by encouraging people to tell their family they want to be a donor.

74 lives have been saved by transplants in Lancashire in the past year, but there's still a big shortage of donors as four in ten families refuse to donate their relatives' organs after they die.

Natalie Kerr from Adlington, Chorley had a double lung transplant four years ago after suffering from a rare illness - she says the transplant saved her life:

NHS Blood and Transplant say that 150 people are currently on the transplant waiting list in Lancashire.

They're urging people to sign up to be an organ donor by visiting www.organdonation.nhs.uk or call 0300 123 23 23.
