Hundreds of people across Preston and Lancashire are coming out to support people in Ukraine by donating, food, clothes and medicine.

The donations started flooding in after Preston resident Natalia Soloducha, who is originally from Poland put out a plea for aide.

Natalia told us she usually organises a drive for toys for vulnerable children in her native Poland, but after seeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, decided more needed to be done.

People have been arriving constantly to drop of their donations since the appeal started at the weekend. Natalia and her husband Thomas were overwhelmed with peoples generosity whilst the sheer number of donations meant they could no longer move around their home.

A member of the church said they were welcome to use one of their rooms to store their donations, and they're now operating from there with around a dozen volunteers.

Natalia told us they're in desperate need of food and medicine which will go directly into Ukraine after receive correspondence from a soldier on the front line.

Donations are being welcomed at St. Maria Goretti RC Church in Ribbleton, just outside the city centre.
