Pedestrian suffers serious injuries after M65 collision

The carriageway was closed for over four hours

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries after being hit by a car on the M65 westbound.

Lancashire Police were called at 1:23am today (22 May) to the carriageway between junctions nine and ten.

The road reopened at approximately 5:50am.

The driver of the car, a Dacio Sandero, was not injured.

Sgt David Hurst, of Lancashire Police, said:

"This was a serious incident which resulted in a pedestrian receiving significant injuries.

"We are investigating why the pedestrian was on the carriageway and are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and who were in the surrounding area to come forward."
