Benefit Mankind, a Blackburn based charity, has been responding to the floods in Pakistan providing emergency aid to thousands who have lost their homes.
A staggering 33 million people had been badly affected by the flooding according to local government, while the Pakistan’s disaster agency has said nearly 300,000 homes were destroyed and nearly a million homes damaged.
In Sindh alone over 2 million acres of cultivated crops has been wiped out.
The local communities are heavily reliant on their crop to feed themselves.
Latest reports from local authorities have confirmed that 3,457km of road infrastructure and 145 bridges have been damaged, the situation has worsened with the most recent monsoon rains, which poses an even more severe threat to the lives of millions of people.
Without access to urgent medical aid, food, clean water, and adequate shelter, those who have fled to higher ground will be at even more risk.
CEO of Benefit Mankind, Dr Mulla says:
“This is the worst flooding witnessed and millions have been sadly affected, our team on the ground have been delivering emergency aid in remote locations. One-third of Pakistan has been completely submerged by historic flooding, provinces like Sindh and Balochistan which are the worst affected but mountainous regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also been badly hit.
"With support from donors in the UK we are sending funds to Pakistan as often as possible to ensure families get the aid when it matters.
To support the cause Benefit Mankind is asking people to visit it's website and follow their social media channels for updates.
