Man seriously injured after A666 crash in Darwen

A man from Brierfield has been left with serious injuries after a crash in Darwen in the early hours of this morning (15th September).

Officers were called to the A666 Blackburn Road at 1.16am following reports a Toyota Corolla travelling northbound had come off the carriageway on the approach to Stones Bank Road.

No other cars are thought to have been involved.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for his serious injuries to his head, chest and hip. His condition isn't described as life-threatening at this time.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.

Sgt Craig Salmon, of East Tactical Operations, said: “This incident has resulted in a man suffering some quite serious injuries and my thoughts are with him and his family at this time.

“We are now working to establish a fuller picture of what occurred. I would ask any witnesses or anybody with CCTV or dashcam footage which could assist our investigation to get in contact with police as soon as possible.”
