Man Knocked Unconcious In Street In Preston

There's an appeal for witnesses

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was brutally attacked in Preston city centre.

At around 2.30am on Sunday, April 3 the man was walking with his three friends down the alleyway at the side of the church on Church Street when he was approached from behind by two men.

One of the men then chased the victim before punching him twice, leaving him unconscious on the ground. The pair then ran off in the direction of Avenham.

The victim suffered a broken cheek bone and severe bruising as a result of the assault.

The attacker is described as white, in his late teens/early twenties, of chubby build and around 5ft 8in/ 5ft 9in tall. He had dark brown wavy hair which was held back in a head band. He was clean shaven and was wearing a long sleeved black shirt with dark coloured chino type trousers.

The second man is described as white, of slim build, around 5ft 8in with short shaven hair. He was wearing a dark top and jeans.

Det Sgt Jerry Sturgess, of Preston CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked and callous attack on a defenceless individual.

“The offenders have approached the victim from behind before carrying out a cowardly assault.

“I urge anyone with any information at all to come forward.”
