Man jailed after robbing man outside Preston social club
Nicholas Powis stole the victim's mobile phone, car keys and bank cards
A man has been sentenced after admitting a robbery in Preston.
Nicholas Powis, 31, of Hawkins Close, Preston, was sentenced yesterday (Monday, August 23) at Preston Crown Court after pleading guilty to robbing a man in Emmanuel Street on July 10.
The victim, a man in his 60s, was walking close to the Emmanuel Club between 11.30pm and midnight when he was approached by several men riding bikes. The group pushed the man before stealing his money, mobile phone, bank cards and car keys.
Police were called and following a search of the area Powis was seen riding a bike and wearing a balaclava. He was searched with the victim’s mobile phone, car keys and bank cards found.
Powis was arrested and later charged with robbery.
After pleading guilty to the offence, he was jailed for 10 months.
Powis will serve the sentence concurrently after being imprisoned in July for 36 weeks for burglary offences.
