Man given football banning order after running on pitch
A man has been given a 3 year football banning order for running on to the pitch at Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium.
34 year-old Terence Griffiths, jumped over a barrier to celebrate Tranmere Rovers’ 101st minute equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Stanley on 12th April.
Griffiths, of Beckwith Street, Birkenhead, pleaded guilty to going on to the playing area at a football match.
PC Ross Bosdorff, dedicated football officer for Accrington Stanley FC, said: “Running on to a football pitch is completely unacceptable and won’t be tolerated by Lancashire Police.
“Such actions disrupt the game and can put players at unnecessary risk.
“We will take action against fans who enter the playing area during matches.”
