Man found dead in field after West Lancashire shooting named

A man who was found dead in a field after a shooting in West Lancashire has been named as 75-year-old Thomas Olverson.

At around 4:55pm on Thursday 25 July, police were called to a report of a firearms discharge on Pinfold Lane, Scarisbrick.

When emergency services arrived, they discovered Mr Olverson - from Marsh Hey Farm, Pinfold Lane - had suffered gunshot injuries.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene, despite the best efforts of paramedics.

A 29-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, remains in custody.

Lancashire Police are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the incident.

People who were were in the area of Pinfold Lane between 12pm and 5pm on Thursday and saw or heard anything suspicious, or have dashcam footage, are being urged to get in touch.
