Man dies following Lytham attack
Police are appealing for witnesses, following the death of Matthew Guthrie
A 25-year-old man has very sadly died following an assault in Lytham.
Lancashire Police were called at 1.28am on Sunday, June 18th, to Henry Street, Lytham, to a report of an assault.
Matthew Guthrie, from St Annes, suffered serious head injuries and sadly passed away in hospital yesterday (June 19).
Officers arrested a 20-year-old man initially on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm and re-arrested him on suspicion of manslaughter.
He has now been released on bail while enquiries continue.
Det Chief Insp Jane Webb of Lancashire Police, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Matthew’s family at this sad and distressing time for them.
“This is a tragic case, and the investigation is ongoing.
