Man charged with Atherton murder

A 24 year old woman was found dead earlier this month

A man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Atherton.

At around 11.40am on Wednesday 9 October 2024, Police responded to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman at an address on Oxford Road in Atherton.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead shortly after.

The death was referred for a Home Office postmortem and the results upgraded the case to suspicious death investigation.

The 24-year-old’s next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Nadeem Muhammed Begum (02/01/1972), of Oxford Street, Atherton, has subsequently been charged with murder.
