Man charged after Preston stabbing

A man has been charged after a stabbing in Preston.

Lancashire Police were called by the ambulance service at around 10:45pm on Sunday 30 April.

The victim, who is 22, was found with stab wounds on Blackpool Road, near to the fire station.

He is still in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Stephen Dixon, 58, of Ribbleton Avenue, Preston, has been charged with Section 18 wounding and possession of a knife.

He is due to appear at Preston Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 2 May).

A 22-year-old man from Preston who was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and conspiracy to cause criminal damage has been recalled to prison.

Officers are also looking into reports that windows were smashed at a property on Ribbleton Avenue on Friday 28 April.

Extra patrols are taking place in the area this week and anyone with information or concerns is asked to speak to an officer.

Det Insp George Binns, of Preston CID, said:

"While one man has now been charged our enquiries are very much ongoing.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information about what happened at the weekend, or at the address on Friday, to come forward and speak to us."
