Lancashire Police have charged a man in connection with the murder of David Read, who's body was found at a property in Blackburn on Wednesday.

Officers were called to Leamington Road at around 11.38am after reports of a sudden death.

A post-mortem has since concluded that David sustained multiple injuries.

On Friday evening, Lancashire Police arrested Mohammed Ali Khan, 34, of Preston New Road, Blackburn, and they were also granted a warrant yesterday to question him further.

This evening, Khan has been charged with murder, and has been remanded in custody, where he will appear before magistrates tomorrow.

Lancashire Police have now renewed their appeal for information.

Det Chief Insp Mark Haworth-Oates, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “Although a man has now been charged, we are continuing to appeal for witnesses. We want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious during Tuesday and Wednesday in the Leamington Road area or has CCTV that we are not already aware of.

"Please also get in touch if you knew David and can help us piece together the days leading to his death as this may help the continued progression of the investigation. I’d also like to thank the local community for their support so far.”
