Man charged in connection with fatal Colne stabbing

He will appear before magistrates in Blackburn this morning

A man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man in Colne.

Police were called to New Market Street at 2.26pm on Sunday where paramedics were treating a man with a number of serious injuries.

The man - 34-year-old Richard Chamberlain from Colne - died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination established the cause of Richard’s death was multiple stab wounds.

A 44-year-old man from Colne was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of Richard’s murder.

Following consultation with the CPS officers have confirmed that Frank Wrona, 44, of New Market Street, Colne, has been chargedwith murder.

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court in the morning.
