Man charged after serious assault in Blackburn

He's due to appear in court today

A man has been charged with Section 18 Assault with intent to commit GBH following a serious assault in Blackburn.

Police were called at shortly after 4.30pm on Monday, April 26th to a report of an assault on Clayton Street outside the Salvation Army in Blackburn.

Officers attended and a man aged 35 was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital with a head injury. He remains in a very serious condition.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Brendan Duff, 30, of no fixed address was charged with Section 18 Assault with intent to commit GBH and is due to appear before Blackburn magistrates this morning (April 29).

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting log number 1037 of April 26th or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
