Man beaten with binoculars in Preston chip shop robbery

The victim was also threatened with a knife

A man's been threatened with a knife and beaten with some binoculars, in a robbery at a chip shop in Preston.

At about 5pm yesterday (6th July) a man wearing a high-vis jacket and a dark mask entered the Chip Inn on Waterloo Terrace in Ashton brandishing a knife.

He jumped over the counter and demanded money.

The staff member tried to get into the till, but as he was struggling to get it open, the offender grabbed some binoculars and hit him over the head.

PC Richard Shires from Preston Police said: “This was a violent attack on a man who was simply at work doing his job.

He is described as white, in his twenties, around 6ft with bright blue eyes. He was wearing a high visibility, yellow, long sleeved jacket with a black hoody underneath and dark trousers.
