Man arrested on suspicion of murder as police continue to hunt for missing Blackpool man

Officers say they are still keeping an open mind

Detectives investigating the disappearance of a Blackpool man say they have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

55 year old Edward Forrester - known as Eddie - hasn't been seen since Friday.

In an update last night, Lancashire Police say they have carried out enquiries, and have arrested a 65 year old man from Blackpool on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

Despite the arrest, officers are keeping an open mind. They say their priority is finding Eddie alive.

DCI Mark Haworth-Oates, of our Force Major Investigation Team, said: “This is clearly a very distressing time for Eddie’s family and my thoughts are with them.

“We have a dedicated team of officers carrying numerous enquiries to find Eddie and our hope is that we find him alive. I want to reiterate that we are very much keeping an open mind about what may have happened to him."

Eddie was last seen on Seafield Road at 1.31pm on Friday afternoon. He is described as 5ft 5ins, has grey hair, speaks with a Scottish accent and uses a walking stick.
