A man has been arrested in connection with a spate of burglaries in Preston.

Police were called at around 4.30pm on Sunday after reports that a man had entered a house through an unlocked door in Fulwood.

Officers were later called to a property in Ashton-on-Ribble following similar reports. On both of those occasions, they say the man left when challenged and nothing was taken.

At 7.10pm that evening, police say they were called to a house in Ingol to reports that a man had distracted the victim by asking for a glass of water. Whilst distracted, a wallet was allegedly stolen from the house.

After enquiries, police say a 51 year old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in a dwelling and is currently in custody.
