A man has been arrested after breaking in to a house and indecently exposing himself.

Police were called to reports of a break-in at an address on New Lane in Burscough at around 1.35am on Monday, February 22nd.

When officers attended, they found a man had entered the house before being disturbed. He then left.

He was later seen touching himself inappropriately outside the same address before hastily leaving the area.

Police say after a number of enquiries arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence yesterday. The man, of no fixed address, is currently in custody.

The victims continue to be supported by officers.

Detective Inspector Pete Reil, of South CID, said: “While we have made an arrest our investigation is still ongoing and I would continue to appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has come forward and spoken to us so far – the information and support of the community has been invaluable.”

Anybody with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 84 of February 22nd. Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
