Highways England are promising safer, smoother journeys on the A585 on the Fylde.

ÂŁ1.4 million is being spent on repairs to the road, which runs between the M55 and Windy Harbour.

The 7 week project starts on Monday 19 February and should be completed by Tuesday 10 April.

Carriageway resurfacing, new road signs, drainage repairs, new road markings and new lighting are all being installed along a 1 mile section of the road between Thistleton and Greenhalgh, near junction 3 of the motorway.

Highways England project manager Paul Williams said:

“We’re taking the opportunity here to do as much work as possible in a single project to help minimise disruption to road users who we know will welcome these repairs and improvements.

“All of the work will be done overnight when traffic is at its lightest. While there will be overnight closures of both the northbound and southbound carriageways we’ll be maintaining access for residents and the emergency services.”

The A585 will be closed nightly from 8pm to 6am between Windy Harbour and the motorway.

A 30mph speed limit will be in place during the day.

There will be no overnight closures during the Easter holiday period as Highways England lifts as many road works as possible across the country to help people on their bank holiday journeys.
