A Fleetwood man has been jailed for his part in the disorder in Blackpool in the summer.

Morgan Spencer, 21, was identified by Lancashire Police at being at various scenes of the disorder which happened on Saturday 3rd August.

CCTV evidence showed him in Talbot Square where he joined others in running at a police van and threw bottles at police officers.

Spencer joined protestors who moved on to the Houndshill Shopping Centre and cheered a group who attempted to loot JD Sports and attack security guards.

He was then seen in St Johns Square throwing bottles and chairs at a group of people from the Rebellion Festival.

Spencer, of Windsor Terrace, Fleetwood, was jailed for two years and nine months by a judge at Preston Crown Court last Friday (22nd November).

He had pleaded guilty to violent disorder.

Assistant Chief Constable Karen Edwards of Lancashire Constabulary, said: "Morgan Spencer clearly played a role at different locations in the disgraceful disorder in Blackpool on 3rd August.

“He was involved in abhorrent behaviour where police officers and members of the public were subjected to threats and violence.

“Such behaviour is not welcome in Lancashire and will not be tolerated in our county.

“A number of people have been brought to justice for their role in the disorder and I welcome the sentence in this case." Hear all the latest news from across the UK on the hour, every hour, on Greatest Hits Radio on DAB, smartspeaker, at greatesthitsradio.co.uk, and on the Rayo app.
