Drivers are being warned to expect delays on their morning commute, after an accident shut the M65 in East Lancashire.

The eastbound carriageway has been shut eastbound between Accrington and Hapton since the early hours of this morning. We don't know if anyone was injured.

In an update posted on social media, National Highways said: "The #M65 is closed eastbound between J8 (#Huncoat) and J10 (#Burnley) due to a collision involving multiple vehicles.

"@LancsPolice on scene."

A diversion has been set up, with drivers advised to follow signs with a hollow circle symbol, which will take them along the A679 Accrington Road, before rejoining the motorway at junction 10.

We have approached Lancashire Police for the latest.
