The Labour leader of South Ribble Council's told us he wants to see MPs decide 'how they'll end the mess they started' in Afghanistan.
MPs are being recalled to Parliament this morning to debate the government's response after Taliban fighters took control of the country at a rapid speed.
Paul Foster, Labour leader of South Ribble Council and army veteran who served in Afghanistan in 2002, said: "What I want to hear from the government and from the opposition - my own party - is clear plans that by the weekend we've got a multitude of opportunities and basically aircraft in Kabul, in the airport, I've been there myself, and let's get these people out.
The council leader also served in the Gulf War, Kosovo and sadly lost friends in Afghanistan.
He added: "What have we achieved in Afghanistan other than killing tens of thousands of people and leaving a lot of people with empty hearts?
"We're very good aren't we at entering these countries...and trying to implement Western morals and laws into these countries but we are absolutely appalling at any exit strategy and what we've done time after time is fail these people."
