Lancashire Police pay tribute to Jordan Banks and George Hinds

Lancashire Police have decided to pay tribute to two boys who both lost their lives in tragic accidents in the county this year.
2-year-old George Hinds died after a gas explosion at a house in Heysham in the same month.
Jordan Banks was just 9-years-old when he was struck by lightning playing football in Blackpool back in May.

Back in June, Lancashire police ran a competition to name one of their new drones.
Entries poured in on social media, with the top 10 entries including names like 'Cinderpropella' and 'Inspector Gadget'.
Yesterday, they announced the winning name as 'Chase' - and there was a special reason why.
Chase was the name of George's favourite Paw Patrol character and officers thought it was fitting for the tech to be named in his memory.

Another naming announcement was made this afternoon (16th July), this time in memory of Jordan.
Police horse Fred joined Lancashire police from his previous home in West Yorkshire but officers thought it fitting for him to be renamed 'Banks' in his memory.
Jordan was known to have touched the hearts of Blackpool's officers after leaving sweets on police cars to cheer them up.
The naming also follows the force's tradition of naming their newest horses after places across the county.
Chief Superintendent, Wendy Bower, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “We have now chosen to name ‘Banks’ in memory of Jordan and to express our gratitude to him”.
“We hope this lets Jordan’s family know how much we appreciated his kindness last year.”
