Motorists in Lancashire are being warned of tricky driving conditions, with a warning in place for ice.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for most of the county, until at least midday.

Drivers are being told to take extra care on the roads, and to give more time to their journey.

The warning covers central and eastern Lancashire, as well as parts of Wigan.

The met office website says a yellow warning means:

  • Some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

The warning follows a weekend of heavy snow and blizzards for the Lakes, which saw hundreds of people being trapped inside homes and cars.

Electricity North West are continuing to try and restore power to 1500 homes in South Cumbria and North Lancashire.
