Hyndburn has seen the biggest week on week rise of Covid cases in England.

The borough also currently has the highest rate, with 124 new cases in the seven days to April 30 - the equivalent of 153.0 cases per 100,000 people.

This is up from 38.3 in the seven days to April 23 - that's around a 300% increase.

The figures are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

Data for the most recent four days (May 1-4) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

Blackburn with Darwen have also had one of the biggest jumps in the UK, with the rate there increasing from 33.4 to 51.4 per 100 thousand.

The figures have been calculated by the PA news agency based on Public Health England data published on May 4 on the Government's coronavirus dashboard.
