Burnley have signed former England international Jonjo Shelvey on a deal until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old midfielder, who won six caps for England between 2012 and 2015, joins Burnley after his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Eyupspor ended.

"It feels amazing to get it done," Shelvey told the official Burnley website.

"It's been quite a long process, but it's all done now and I'm excited for it.

"I like the club as a whole, every time I have played against Burnley at Turf Moor it's been tough.

"But I'm part of this team now and my aim is to do my best to help this club get back into the Premier League, where it belongs."

Shelvey has made over 450 career appearances since his Charlton debut at the age of 16.

He had spells at Liverpool, Swansea, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest before moving to Turkey, where he played for Caykur Rizespor and Eyupspor.

Shelvey becomes Burnley's third January signing after striker Ashley Barnes and full-back Oliver Sonne.

Scott Parker's Clarets, currently third in the Sky Bet Championship, are next in action at Plymouth on Wednesday night.
