Investigation launched after dog walker hit by car in Great Harwood

Police say the vehicle didn't stop at the scene

Police are investigating after a woman was hit by a car that didn't stop in Great Harwood.

Emergency services were called to Blackburn Old Road, near to Great Harwood Cricket Club, at around 8pm on Saturday.

The woman was walking her dog when she was hit by a vehicle, thought to be an Audi Q2.

In an update, the force say the woman has sustained serious injuries. In a post on twitter, Hyndburn police said: "We’re appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a collision left a woman with serious injuries.

"At around 8pm on Saturday, August 12, a woman, who was walking her dog, was hit by a grey Audi Q2 on Blackburn Old Road, near to Great Harwood Cricket Club.

"We believe that the Audi may have collided with another vehicle during this time, and are asking the owner to come forward and contact us."

Officers want anyone who saw anything, or who has dashcam footage, to contact them.
