The inquest in to the death of a teenage girl from Darwen has opened and adjourned in Blackburn today (Tuesday 5th April 2016).

Sky Nicol was just 16-years-old when she was found unconscious at her East Lancashire home last month.

She was taken to hospital where she died from what's thought to have been a cardiac arrest.

Police believe she'd taken drugs but it's not known whether or not that caused her death.

It is being treated as unexplained.

Sky's family weren't present at the short hearing in Blackburn today.

The coroner heard how a post-mortem has taken place and the cause of death has been withheld until further toxicology reports take place.

The coroner was due to adjourn the case until 1st June 2016 - but has decided to postpone it as it would have been Sky's 17th birthday.
