Police arrest teenage boy on suspicion of arson following school fire
The incident took place at a primary school in the village of Hurst Green
Police in Lancashire have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of arson following a fire at a primary school.
Officers were called to St Joseph's Primary School in the village of Hurst Green at 4:37am on Saturday (July 20th).
Lancashire Police were alerted to assist in tackling the fire on Whalley Road and brining the area under control.
Thankfully, no one was injured and an investigation into what caused the fire to begin is now underway.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing, and police have already detained a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of arson. He remains in police custody.
The force were quick to point out that while an arrest has been made, the investigation remains in its early stages.
As a result, officers have appealed to the public to come forward with any relevant information they may have regarding the incident.
Police also urged the public to avoid speculation both online and in real life as it continues to leave the local community concerned.
Anyone who may have any information, including dashcam or doorbell footage of Whalley Road between the hours of 1am and 4am on Saturday morning, is now being urged to get in touch.
