Fresh appeal made by police investigating fatal crash in Blackpool
Officers want to speak to a driver they believe is a potential witness
A fresh appeal is being made to find a witness to a crash in Blackpool, in which a man died.
Police want to find the driver of a vehicle it's believed drove around the pedestrian, prior to a collision in Plymouth Road on Monday 10th February on the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Mowbray Drive and Plymouth Road.
Following enquiries, Lancashire Police arrested a man in his 70s from Blackpool on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
A 43-year-old man arrested earlier on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has since been released, and no further action will be taken against him.
DS Joseph Ghigi from Lancashire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“We are really keen to speak to the driver, as they may be a key witness to our investigation.
“I want to reiterate that the driver is being treated only as a witness, and is not in any trouble, but it is really important that we speak to them.
“If this is you, or if you know who the driver may be, I would encourage you to do the right thing, and come forward.”
