It follows an alleged incident in the tunnel after his sides League One game with Barnsley last season.

A man was left with facial injuries following an incident in the tunnel.

Barton has previously "emphatically denied" accusations he confronted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel.

Fleetwood play Port Vale in a friendly tonight and it's thought the Cod Army boss will be in the dugout.

He will appear before magistrates on the 9th of October.
