Firefighters tackle Blackpool blaze

Eight fire engines had to attend the scene after a blaze broke out near the Promenade, with a building left badly damaged.

The incident was reported at 1:40pm, with the fire service confirming:

"We have eight fire engines and the aerial ladder platform from Blackpool along with the drone team are in attendance at the incident with firefighting operations underway. Crews remain in attendance."

Crews remained at the scene overnight, with them damping down and monitoring any remaining hotspots.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue service issued this update hours after the fire had been reported.

The affected building was owned by Nail emporium, who issued this statement.

"We are so sad to say today 26th December at 13.40 in our second floor engulfed in flames as you can see from Blackpool News. We have contact with emergency services afterwards, lucky that no one or animal been hurt but our salon have been destroyed by fire so badly.

We just want to let you all know that we won’t be able to open from tomorrow until further notice . We will try our best to recover our salon and reopen as soon as possible, please keep your eye we going to update for you all soon."
