Firefighters from Lancashire are to remain at the scene of a major fire in Blackpool that broke out on Friday night.

Over 50 firefighters and ten fire engines tackled the blaze at a former government building.

The fire at the old Department of Work and Pensions site at Warbreck Hill Road in Blackpool is believed to have started just after 11:30pm on Friday.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service described the blaze as "significant".

Some roads in the area have been closed to traffic, including Warbreck Hill Road between Devonshire Road and Hollyoak Avenue, plus Bispham Road up to the junction with Hayfield Avenue.

They remain closed today.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue have released an update saying they are continuing to monitor "hotspots and damping down the fire".

They're advising people to avoid the area.
