Firefighters tackle large fire at Accrington industrial estate

Residents are being told to keep their windows and doors shut as smoke fills the area

Firefighters are tackling a large fire at a premises in Accrington.

Around 60 firefighters, and 11 fire engines, are on the scene at the Junction 7 industrial estate on Blackburn Road. Crews are now also using drones to assist them.

Blackburn Road is currently closed between Whalley Road and Dunkenhalgh Way, with delays expected for commuters on the morning rush.

In a statement, Lancashire Fire & Rescue said: "We currently have 10 fire engines and 1 aerial ladder platform in attendance at a commercial property fire on Blackburn Road, Accrington. If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors shut. Avoid the areas where possible.

"The drone team is attending this incident. Please do not fly drones nearby as you will obstruct emergency operations."

Nobody is thought to be injured.
