Fire breaks out in Preston city centre

Six fire engines are dealing with a large blaze in Preston city centre.

Lancashire Fire & Rescue were called to the building fire on Mount Street just before 6pm today (Monday 1 May).

People are being asked to avoid the area.

A number of roads have been closed in the city centre - including Fishergate down to Cheapside and Corporation Street.

Preston Police said:

"Please note these road closures may be extended please follow the instructions of the officers at scene."
