Fire crews tackle large blaze in Chorley
Residents have been told to keep doors and windows shut
Fire crews have been tackling a large fire at a building in Chorley overnight.
At least six fire crews were called to the blaze at a disused building on George Street at just after 10.05pm.
Crews are still attending to the incident this morning, with delays expected on the roads. It's thought that the street will remain closed for some time.
In a statement last night, Lancashire Fire & Rescue said: "At 22:07 on the 30th July 2023, six fire engines from Chorley, Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Blackburn and Horwich (of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) and the aerial ladder platform from Preston are currently in attendance at a derelict building fire on George Street, Chorley. Firefighters are using two ground monitors and two hose reel jets.
If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors closed. Please avoid the area."
Residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke getting into their homes.
