Driver dies in crash in West Lancashire after car leaves road

Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police have confirmed a man, aged 71, has died following a collision in Ormskirk (30 March).

Officers were called shortly after 1pm to a report that a Ford Focus Zetec had left the carriageway on New Cut Lane in Halsall, Ormskirk.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, police said: "Our thoughts are with his family, who are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the collision, and no other vehicles are thought to be involved."
