Doctor at Royal Preston warning people need to get Covid vaccine "as a matter of urgency"

As we all get used to living again without COVID restrictions, those in Lancashire who still haven't come forward for their coronavirus vaccine are being urged to do so "as a matter of urgency".
Consultants at the Royal Preston Hospital say nearly two thirds of patients being admitted with the virus are young people who've not been jabbed.
The number of patients in hospital with COVID is back up to levels last seen in February and stats show in some parts of Lancashire nearly half of people haven't been jabbed.
Dr Mohamed Munavvar is a consultant chest physician at the hospital. He said:
"Patients are getting admitted and getting seriously ill even if they are extremely young and fit if they have not been vaccinated.
"People who have had both the vaccinations can sometimes get Covid but they usually suffer a minor illness and recover quite quickly.
"The vast majority of people who have had both vaccinations do not require intensive care and do not seem to suffer complications.
"Nearly 70% of patients who become seriously ill are in the younger group where they have not received even a single dose.
"Covid is going to be around for some time and the only way to combat it is to get vaccinated as soon as possible."
